"Simplifying the entry to the European Union will help Belarus to strengthen its civil society and learn from the experience of the European Union," said Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
According to the Estonian minister, it is about expressing solidarity and support to the Belarusian citizens, who have to pay quite a lot for trips to the European countries. For this reason, the Belarusians are very rarely out of the country on trips, said Urmas Paet.
National visas are issued only in case of long-term staying in the state (above 91 days) within six months from the date of the first entry.
Germany also draws up national visas for Belarusian citizens without visa fee payment on February 4, 2011. This was reported to Telegraf at the German Embassy in Belarus. "This new rule, however, doesn’t affect the issuance of Schengen visas for short-term private and business trips of up to 90 days within six months," said the embassy.
As explained in the German embassy, the new rule takes into account the date of filing. "National visas are issued to individuals, planning to stay in Germany for above three months, for example, for a family reunion, work or study," told the embassy.
