On 10 March 2011 Representative of Ukraine to the EU, Ambassador Kostiantyn Yelisieiev met with EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, Audit and Anti-Fraud A.Semeta. K.Yelisieiev and A.Semeta discussed the ways to boost dialogue between Ukraine and the EU in customs field and in fight against corruption.
The parties agreed to establish a regular dialogue between the European Commission and respective authorities in Ukraine in order to improve customs information and best practices exchanges in the fight against corruption and fraud.
A special attention was paid to introduction of joint border and customs controls between Ukraine and neighboring EU member states.
Draft of Agreement between State Customs Service of Ukraine and the European Anti-Fraud Service (OLAF) on cooperation in fighting against illegal movement of cigarettes was also discussed at the meeting.
The parties paid a special attention to the issue of improvement of business climate in Ukraine.
