Ukraine should complete the adoption of all necessary acts as part of the first phase of the Action Plan on visa liberalization with the EU by the end of October, according to First Vice Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky.
He set ministers such a task at a meeting of the Coordination Center for the implementation of the Action Plan on Thursday, Khoroshkovsky’s press service reported.
This includes legislation on the introduction of biometric documents, personal data protection, the issue of a special, authorized anti-corruption policy agency, and adherence to the UN Protocol of 2001 against the illicit manufacturing of, and trafficking in, firearms. Khoroshkovsky said the ministers would be held personally responsible for the drafting and maintenance of legislative acts in the visa-free dialogue.
Once there are results, Ukraine will issue a third report on the progress of Action Plan’s implementation, which will become the basis for the EU’s decision to switch to the second (implementation) phase of the Action Plan.
