The Polish Embassy in Ukraine is planning to open visa centers in Chernivtsi and Uzhgorod by the end of the year, Poland’s Consul General in Lviv Jaroslaw Drozd has said.

"We’re still thinking about the expansion of a network of visa centers in Ukraine this year. Chernivtsi and Uzhgorod are also interested [in the opening of visas centers]," he said at a press conference in Ivano-Frankivsk on Wednesday on the occasion of the first anniversary of the work of the local visa center.

Despite the difficulties, the consul said that the experience of the work of visa centers in Ukraine was good.

"Based on this experience, we opened such a similar system for receiving applications in Russia," Drozd said.

He also said that 58,000 citizens had received visas over the first year of the work of the Polish visa center in Ivano-Frankivsk. This year, the number of visas issued to Ukrainians grew by 14-15% compared to 2011, and the average percentage of visa denials last year was 3%, he added.

As reported, on November 12, 2011, the Polish Embassy opened in Ivano-Frankivsk the first visa center in Ukraine.

There are currently 14 Polish visa centers in Ukraine.
