The European Policy Centre, in cooperation with the Civic Initiative “Europe without Barriers” and International Foundation “European Development”, on Wednesday 7 December 2011, 15.00-16.30 at the Residence Palace, EPC Conference room (Brussels) will held a roundtable discussion on EU-Ukraine visa-free dialogue: moving forward or treading water?

The European Policy Centre, in cooperation with the Civic Initiative "Europe without Barriers"  and International Foundation “European Development”, on Wednesday 7 December 2011, 15.00-16.30 at the Residence Palace, EPC Conference room (Brussels) will held a roundtable discussion on EU-Ukraine visa-free dialogue: moving forward or treading water?

Experts will discuss the results of the first year of the Action Plan’s implementation; evaluate the state of fulfillment of the first phase benchmarks of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization, the compliance of the legislative, policy and institutional setup with the European and International standards; assess the extent of Ukraine’s implemented legislative and policy framing work in the context of the APVL accomplishment.

The issues to be discussed: new legislative framework of Migration policy of Ukraine; Protection system of asylum seekers; countering human-trafficking; anti-corruption measures; Personal data protection system; Document security and Anti-discriminations measures.  

These issues and more shall be a focus of a panel debate for the following experts:

  1. Oleksandr Sushko, Research Director, Institute of Euro-Atlantic Cooperation; Expert,Civic Initiative "Europe without Barriers" ,Ukraine;
  2. Joannes De Ceuster, Head of Visa Policy Unit, DG Home, European Commission;
  3. H.E. Kostiantyn Yelisieiev, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU;
  4. Alexandra Stiglmayer, Senior Analyst, European Stability Initiative;
  5. Paweł Robert Kowal, Member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group; Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, European Parliament;
  6. Amanda Paul, EPC Policy Analyst.

This joint event is held under the auspices of the EPC’s Europe in the World programme,which is run in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. It has been organized in cooperation with Civic Initiative "Europe without Barriers" and International Foundation “European Development”
