Cyprus supports the adoption of the Action Plan on implementation of visa-free regime for short visits of Ukrainian citizens to the EU. The president of the House of Representatives (parliament) of the Republic of Cyprus Marios Karoyan said about it.
This statement took place on the meeting with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Kostjantyn Gryshchenko in the context of preparations for Ukraine-EU summit in Brussels on 22 November.
Also at the meeting discussed a wide range issues of Ukrainian-Cypriot bilateral relations and the problem of cooperation between the two countries in the field of European integration. In particular, the Cypriot parliament speaker called for the deepening of political dialogue and intensification of interparliamentary connections with Ukraine.
Ukraine and the EU started visa-free dialogue at the turn of 2008. Parties agreed to grant Ukraine the Action Plan on abolishing the visa regime on May 2010. This action plan is expected to be sign on EU-Ukraine summit on November 22 in Brussels.
