In March 2011 students from the College of Europe «Natolin» (Warsaw) visited Kyiv within the framework of progam «Study trip to Ukraine». On 16th of March the conference “Ukraine: neighbourhood policies as an efficient tool to foster reform” was held in the American Library of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy building.
The event was attended by representatives from such organisations as EUBAM (EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine), International Organization for Migration (Mission in Ukraine) and PI "Europe without barriers". Topics of speeches were extremely relevant for our country.
Inge Lindsaar (EUBAM) described the EUBAM mission in Ukraine, Yuriy Bystro (IOM) has provided detailed information on migration flows, their value in the EU-Ukraine relations. He also noted that the number of illegal immigrants has significantly decreased, and this is a good signal for our state.
Experts of EWB presented the visa dialogue between EU and Ukraine and governments commitment to fulfil the Action Plan criteria that will close our country to receive the visa-free regime with the EU. Subjects of Ukraine’s relations with Western Balkan countries and the Eastern Partnership countries had extremely interested participants and caused many questions.
