German Embassy granted its official respond on the inquiry regarding the conditions of use of a multiple-entry visa in case if purposes of the journey do not coincide with purposes indicated during the application process.
During the press event hold on March, 19, 2012 in the news agency “Ukrinform”, initiated by “Europe without Barriers”, a panel of experts addressed the recommendations and reservations regarding the use of multiple-entry visas in case when the purpose of the journey does not coincide with the purpose indicated during the application process. It has been confirmed that multiplicities of possible purposes of the journey do not contradict the rules set out for use of multiple visas. (see “Europe without Barriers ” comment ).
Recently, thanks to the cooperation between civil society with the Embassies of the EU member-states and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the official respond of German Embassy regarding the legitimacy of using a multiple entry Schengen visas within the territory of Germany issued in other Schengen member- state has been disclosed by the representative of the Ministry for foreign Affairs of Ukraine during the mentioned press-conference.
Below we present the official respond of German Embassy on the inquiry of Ministry for Foreign affairs of Ukraine regarding the conditions of use a multiple-entry visas in case if purposes of the journey do not coincide with purposes indicated by the applicant during the visa application process.
Upon the entry into the Federal Republic of Germany with visa issued by other than Germany Diplomatic mission or Consular institution of the EU member state and with other purpose than indicated in visa, the following conditions are to be met:
– Visa should be used for entry to the country of visa issuance with the purpose indicated in visa;
– Visa type should be proven;
– Documentary evidence of the purpose of the trip to the Federal Republic of Germany must be provided.
In case if visa was not used in conformity with purpose of its issuance and very often visa owners have the need of travelling to other country of Schengen Agreement but with other purpose, this type of visa shall be annulled and the applicant should submit his application to the consulate of the destination country according to his purpose of stay.
“Europe without Barriers” will monitor further development of the situation on the use of Schengen multiple entry visas. First of all such monitoring will be conducted on the territory of Germany, where the problems with citizens of Ukraine occurred.
