Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and his Ukrainian counterpart Konstyantyn Hryshchenko set up on Friday a Polish-Ukrainian Partnership Forum for dialogue between the two nations and an expression of their friendship.
“I am very glad that dialogue between governments will be enriched with dialogue conducted by intellectuals, artists and journalists, he said”, Minister Sikorski said on the occasion.
The opening of the Polish-Ukrainian Partnership Forum is of particularly symbolic nature as this year marks 20 years since Poland—as the first country in the world—recognized Ukraine’s independence.
On 25 February 2011 Warsaw hosted the 3rd Executive Council of the Polish and Ukrainian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired by Sikorski and Hryshchenko, during such issues were discussed as
the state and prospects of Ukraine’s integration with the EU, as well as bilateral cooperation in international fora and regional policy issues.
