The Russian Federation and the European Union have different visions regarding the future liberalization of the visa regime.

It became known after the Moscow negotiations between Anvar Azimov, ambassador atheist of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Stefano Manservisi, Director General DG Home Affairs.

According to the information of the Russian newspaper the Russia don’t want to connect the visa-free regime with the issues of corruption and human rights. The newspaper’s source in the European diplomatic circles stresses that these issues are closely related to the liberalization of the visa regime.

“Fight against corruption is directly related to visa-free regime. Due to the problems exactly in this sphere Romania and Bulgaria are admitted to the Shengen area… Corruption creates the preconditions for the growth of the level of criminality, illegal migration, kidnapping and drug traffic.  These elements threat to the efficient and secure visa-free regime”, said the European diplomat.

The diplomat called naive the Moscow’s attempts to omit these issues. He is convinced, if the parties don’t pay appropriate attention to these issues, the European parliament member will rise them up during the ratification of the agreements and will suspend the implementation of the visa-free regime.
