Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović and her Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Lytvyn met in Belgrade on Monday.They expressed hope that the two countries could establish a visa-free regime by the end of the year.

The Serbian parliament speaker told reporters that the Serbian Interior Ministry has finished the technical preparations for abolishing visas, and that it is now Ukraine’s move.

"This can be finished relatively quickly and I would like it to be by the end of the year," she said.

In his turn, Lytvyn said that the draft of the Agreement is in progress now. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine took it for the consideration, and it is planned  to be taken for consideration by the Parliament soon.

Volodymyr Lytvyn said that Serbia’s experience in European integration is important for his country, because Serbia is one step ahead of Ukraine on the road of EU integration.

He assessed the meeting with his Serbian counterpart was productive, open and honest, saying that the two parliaments’ friendship groups will work on strengthening cooperation, especially in science, education and culture.
