On Tuesday, December 6, in the European Parliament building in Brussels, Civic Initiative “Europe without Barriers” presented public opinion on visa issues, which are one of the most sensitive issues for the Ukrainian society. Experts and politicians discussed the situation on the EU Member States’ Visa Issuance Policies and Practices towards Ukrainian citizens, as well as progress in implementation of reforms required for obtaining a visa–free regime with the EU. Also the experts from Ukraine presented results of the independent monitoring of the EU Member States visa practices in Ukraine. The Civic assessments of the implementation of the first phase of the Action plan on visa liberalisation of EU to Ukraine were also discussed.
Members of the European Parliament expressed support to Ukrainian society in their aspiration to get rid from a burdensome visa application process in a short-term period and obtain their natural right to freely move within Europe.
Among the members of the European Parliament, which actively participated in the discussion were: Norica Nicolai (Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe), Adrian Severin (Social Democrats).
The meeting was organized within the cooperation of the European Parliament – Ukraine LINK Group with the assistance of the Polish Office of Pawel Zalewski (European People’s Party).
Presented monitorings are carried out at support of the International Renaissance Foundation (Ukraine).
The trip of Ukrainian experts was organized by the fund of the International Foundation "European Development" (Ukraine).
