On May 11, 2012 at 2.p.m. at the Belarusian Human Rights House in exile in Vilnus (Latako str.3) Iryna Sushko, a profound Ukrainian expert on EU’s visa and migration policy will deliver a public lecture: “Ways for the Eastern Partnership States to Join Visa-Free Europe”. The event is organized by VISA-FREE travel campaign Go Europe! Go Belarus! and NGO Belarus Watch.
Ms. Sushko represents NGO "Europe Without Barriers" (http://novisa.com.ua/), a leading civil society actor lobbying for domestic reforms needed for Ukraine to meet EU visa-free movement criteria.
Following topics will be covered by the lecture:
– prospects for the EaP countries to achieve visa liberalization;
– how do Belarus and Ukraine look like on the EU visa map;
– right to freedom of movement for citizens of the third countries: theory and practice;
– fundamentals of the EU visa and migration policy;
– what should the civil society and the state institutions do to spur visa facilitation and visa-free movement.
Along with activists of the VISA-FREE travel campaign and other civil society members as well as media, representatives of state institutions are also invited to take part at the event, just like anyone interested in efforts to promote people-to-people contacts between EU and Belarus.
Duration of the lecture, Q&A included: 1h 45min.
Languages: Russian/Belarusian and English (simultaneous interpretation provided).
