Europe without Barriers proposes brief analysis of the statistics of Shengen visas issuance in 2012, which was recently published by the European Commission. Soon the experts of CI Europe without Barriers will make wider analysis of the published statistics.
Total number of the issued Schengen visas in 2012 – 14 461 446, not issued – 4,77%, multiple – 41,55%. In 2011 there were issued 12 647 747 visas.
Total number of visas issued in Ukraine in 2012 – 1 284 908 (second place in the world), not issued – 2,03%, multiple – 38,56%.In 2011 in Ukraine there were issued 1 103 391 (16% growth in comparison with the previous year). Further reduction in not issued visas (there were 3,3%) under the stabile share of multiple visas.
The number of visas issued by the following states: Poland – 447 813, Hungary – 136 257, Greece – 128 800, Germany – 100 534, Spain – 78 149, Czech Republic – 73 927.
Main tendencies:
Poland, Hungary – stable leadership with temperate growth; Greece, Spain – rapid growth from outsiders to leaders (index of Greece doubled during the year, index of Spain increased in 1,5 times). Germany – stable index; Czech Republic – substantial decrease (for 30 000 in comparison with 2011 or almost 3 times decrease)
In Russia – 5 934 854 (first place in the world, more than 40% of all Schengen visas), not issued visas – 0,98%, multiple visas – 48,93%.
Among them Consulate of Finland in Saint Petersburg issued 1 022 518 visas, Consulate of Spain in Moscow 875 895.
In China – 1 175 354 issued visas, not issued – 4%, multiple – 12,69% (third place in the world, Ukraine still occupies the second place in total numbers as the tempos of growth of the number of visas issued in China slows down to average level, in 2011 there were 1 026 283 issued visas)
Belarus – 703 483, not issued – 0,5%, multiple visas – 47,08% (stable record in the number of visas per capita and in minimal number of not issued visas)
Georgia – 59 496 visas issued, not issued – 12.75% (stable first place in this index), multiple visas – 30,93%.
Moldova – 48 664 visas issued, not issued – 6,53%, multiple visas – 26,71%.
Armenia – 35 798 visas issued, not issued – 7,98%, multiple visas – 17,54%.
Azerbaijan – 50 046 visas issued, not issued – 4%, multiple visas – 18,91%.
Turkey – 634 919 visas issued, not issued -4,51%, multiple visas – 50,07%.
