On April 25, 2012 from 16.30 till 18.30 in the information agency “UKRINFORM” the outcomes of the research on “Consequences of Schengen Visa Liberalisation for the Citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova”, prepared by the European University Institute (Florence) will be presented.

On April 25, 2012 from 16.30 till 18.30 in the information agency “UKRINFORM” the outcomes of the research on “Consequences of Schengen Visa Liberalisation for the Citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova”, prepared by the European University Institute (Florence) will be presented.

The study has been conducted by the Center for Migration Policy (European University Institute in Florence) with the participation of Ukrainian experts. The analysts from the European University Institute will express their views on possible risks and challenges for the both sides in case of abolishment of visas to Ukraine and Moldova. The experts will present their policy recommendations and share their opinions on future scenarios and visioning of visa dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine on the one side, and the EU on other.

It is worth mentioning that research on “Ukraine’s Migratory potential in the context of acquiring a visa-free regime with the EU» has also been carried out by Ukrainian Institute of Social Research and Political Analysis in partnership with the Civic initiative "Europe without Barriers".

Therefore, the analysts from the EU and Ukraine will also get the opportunity to exchange their ideas on possible consequences from as visa, as well as non-visa regime between the EU, Ukraine and Moldova; to make comparison of their research findings in order to develop common recommendations for advancing visa dialogue between the parties.


The representatives of MFA of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, EU Delegation in Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Migration Service of Ukraine, as well as leading experts of government and non-governmental think tanks, public figures and journalists are expected to participate in the event.


The presentation shall be a focus of a panel debate for the following experts:
