Friday, May 18, 2012 from 10.00 till 15.00 in the building of Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine the International high-level debate: “Ukraine-EU relations: at the Rubicon” will be held. The event is organized under the auspices of the European Policy Center’s Europe in the World programme in cooperation with the International Foundation “European Development” and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State Migration Service of Ukraine.
Ukraine from the very beginning of its Independence has set integration into the EU as its strategic goal. Ukraine is undergoing a difficult path towards this goal, at the same time this root has brought Ukraine to a new era of relations with the EU. Ukraine has finalized negotiations on an Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU; also the Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation aimed at abolition for Ukrainians of visa requirements for short term stay in the Schengen area has been granted to Ukraine by the EU.
During the event it is set to hold discussion on the conclusion of an Association Agreement, establishment of Free Trade Area and Visa liberalisation process between the EU and Ukraine (for more details see the program). In order to assure an active interchange across the abovementioned issues of the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda, the event along with the representatives from the Legislative and Executive branches of Ukraine’s authority will be also attended by a broad range of civil society representatives.
