The official website of the Coalition for the European Continent Undivided by Visa Barriers has started its work. EWB also joined that Coalition in November, 2010. This website is the result of cooperation of members of the Coalition initiated be the Stefan Batory Foundation where you can find the latest world and EaP news, full information about Coalition, its mission, members and activities. Documents on visa issues and visa relations with the EU, reports and publications are also available here.
On November 26 non-governmental organisations (see here) from European Union and Eastern Partnership countries and Russia launched the Coalition for a European Continent Undivided by Visa Barriers. EWB joined this Coalition. The coalition will undertake joint actions to speed up the process of EU visa liberalisation with the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia).
The coalition will contribute to policy processes leading as quickly as possible towards achieving Visa-Free Europe. It welcomes the liberalisation of visa requirements for five Western Balkan countries, which underlines both the need for and the real possibility of extending this achievement to the rest of Europe. In our activities we focus on the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) as well as Russia.
In the Coalition’s open letter (download it) all members hope that concrete steps are taken during the Polish Presidency in order to accelerate visa liberalisation process for the EaP countries, such as closing the first phase of the Action Plans for Moldova and Ukraine; offering an Action Plan to Georgia; starting negotiations on visa facilitation agreements with Armenia and Azerbaijan.
