Ukraine could ink an association agreement with the European Union during Poland’s presidency of the 27-member bloc in the second half of this year, a senior Polish diplomatic source told on Friday.
"The signing of the EU-Ukraine association treaty requires Ukraine’s full determination to fulfil the required objectives," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"If Ukraine keeps showing consistent determination to meet these objectives, the association treaty could be signed during the Polish presidency," the source added.
Poland takes over the six-month rotating EU presidency on July 1 from fellow ex-communist state Hungary.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych reaffirmed that joining the EU remained Ukraine’s top priority when he visited Warsaw on Thursday for talks with Komorowski.
